NYFW Highlights: Marchesa

Last of my New York Fashion Week reviews. I couldn’t just leave this one behind, I liked it way too much. I can describe Marchesa Spring/Summer 2013 as a modern look of Hindu brides. We are quite used to the feminine and luxurious designs, that usually grace the red carpets and I often describe as dreamy. Well this time, we had all this, plus the Hindu vibe.

I liked the fabrics that were used and the details on the designs, not to mention they all looked a bit ethereal. I think we will be seeing some of this during the red carpet season, so we just have to sit and wait for it.

NYFW Highlights: Tory Burch

Tory Burch Spring/Summer 2013 collection is definitely one of my favorites of this week for two main reasons: it’s quite ‘wearable‘ and the designs are very simple. When I saw it I thought everything looked quite ‘cute and girly‘ and the colors, flower prints and flowing fabrics are simply perfect for spring and summer.

The accessories are fabulous. I specially liked the necklaces and shoes, they have a little bohemian vibe. Needless to say handbags are very nice as well.

NYFW Highlights: Oscar de la Renta

This gentleman never EVER makes my work easy. I had a very hard time picking a decent amount of designs I liked to post here, and I kept trying to get the list shorter. But anyways, here we are.

I liked pretty much EVERYTHING from this collection, I will never get tired of saying that Oscar is simply a genius. Loved the colors, quite different from what we’re used to see in Oscar de la Renta‘s collections, there are great contrasts and beautiful prints that he mixed with some classic shapes and structures, and the final result was, in a word, fabulous. The fabrics were another surprise for me, Oscar decided to use some latex and I quite liked it, very clever decision, again mixing elements and making a great job.

His red carpet designs are gorgeous, and I’m quite sure we will see some (if not all) of them during the award season. Quite luxurious and feminine. Take a close look at the shoes as well. Very nice!
